Bradley Williams, Tenor
Bradley Williams is one of opera's most sought after tenors in the bel canto repertoire. A regular guest of theaters around the world, he has appeared in Europe with the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona as Ramiro in La Cenerentola and Giannetto in La Gazza Ladra, Teatro Cervantes in Malaga, Spain as Arturo in I Puritani, Teatro Regio Torino as Tebaldo in I Capuleti i Montecchi and the Roasted Swan in Carmina Burana, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa as Ramiro, Opera de Bordeaux as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania as Salvini in Bellini's Adelson e Salvini, Royal Danish Opera as Almavia in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Wexford Festival as Alphonse in Hérold's rarely performed Zampa, Opera du Rhin in Strasbourg as Tonio in La Fille du Regiment, Opéra National de Lyon as Ramiro, and Garsington Opera Festival as Lindoro.
In North America, his extensive credits include appearances with the Anchorage Opera as Elvino in La Sonnambula, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Austin Lyric Opera as Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Baltimore Opera as Ramiro, Connecticut Opera as Ernesto in Don Pasquale, Dayton Opera as Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte, Edmonton Opera as Ernesto, Eugene Opera in the title role of Gounod's Romeo et Juliette, Florentine Opera of Milwaukee as Lindoro, Tebaldo, Ottavio, Belmonte, and Fenton in Falstaff, Houston Grand Opera as Scott in the world premiere of Harvey Milk, Lake George Opera as Ernesto and as Uberto in La Donna del Lago, Long Beach Opera as Fenton, New York City Opera as Lindoro, Scott in Harvey Milk, Deportes in Die Soldaten, and Beppe in I Pagliacci, Opera Grand Rapids as Ottavio, Opera Memphis as Belmonte, Opera de Quebec as Ernesto, Opera Orchestra of New York as Georges in Boildieu's La Dame Blanche, Opera Theatre of St. Louis as Flute in A Midsummer Night's Dream, San Francisco Opera as Scott in Harvey Milk, and the San Diego Opera as Ramiro. He has also appeare with Opera Australia in Sidney as Tonio in La Fille du Regiment
Last season, he has appeared in Bordeaux, France, and Palm Beach, Florida as Ottavio. He returned to Europe last winter as Prince Charming in Strasbourg Opera's new production of Cendrillon and, this spring, sang Ernesto in Don Pasquale for the Florentine Opera. This season, he will sing Ramiro for the Arizona Opera and Florentine Opera and Almaviva in Bordeaux. He will also sing Ramiro for Opera Carolina and Piedmont Opera next season.
Notable conductors with whom he has collaborated include Julius Rudel, Yves Abel, Donald Runnicles, Evelino Pido, John DeMain, Cal Stewart Kellogg, Louis Salemno, Eugene, Kohn, John Crosby, Edo DeWaart, Eve Queller, Riccardo Frizza, Paolo, Arrivabene, Cyril Diedrich, George, Manahan, Walter Ducloux, Robert Lyall, Robert Spano, Bernard Labadie, Joel Revzen, Will Crutchfield, Richard Buckley, Bruno Campanella, John Fiore, Gian Luigi Gelmetti, Ward Holmquist, Christopher Keene, Karen Keltner, and Joseph Rescigno.
He may be heard on disc as Salvini in Bellini's Adelson e Salvini on the Nuova Era label and as Scott in Harvey Milk on the Teldec Label. In addition, he is a recording artist for MusAcom, an internet company providing teaching materials for singers and instructors.
The Conroe, Texas native obtained his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the University of Texas at Austin, and also pursued graduate studies at the College/Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. He is a recipient of a major grant from the Sullivan Foundation. While a student, he sang the Duke in Rigoletto, Des Grieux in Manon, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, and was an apprentice with the Santa Fe Opera prior to making his professional debut with the Metropolitan Opera Guild as Ernesto.
Bradley Williams is currently an Associate Professor of Music in Voice at the University of Oklahoma.
